UCI Public Health Student Volunteer Core

The mission of the Public Health Student Volunteer Core (PHSVC) is to serve the UCI campus and our surrounding communities to improve health and well-being through research and community engagement. The PHSVC is an organization aimed at mobilizing students for Public Health research and volunteer opportunities. PHSVC originated from Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala's student research group called the Social Epidemiology and Research in Community Health Lab. There are many community-based research projects and Public Health campus initiatives spearheaded by Dean Boden-Albala that are great opportunities for students who are interested in peer to peer health education, social epidemiology, cardio-metabolic disease prevention, health equity, community health, community-engagement, community-based participatory research and working with grass-roots community organizations.

Wound Walk x Mary’s Kitchen

Wound Walk OC tends to the wounds of our unsheltered in Orange County, California. Their mission is the direct relief for those who need it most by providing street medicine, which brings services out of the clinic and provides care directly to the unhoused. Every Thursday from 9:00AM-1:00PM, they visit Mary’s Kitchen in Orange, California to provide care and support. Mary’s Kitchen provides food, clothing, and other support services to the less fortunate. Wound Walk is always in need of volunteers, especially those who can provide medical care (wound care, taking blood pressure/vitals, answering medical questions etc.). If you are interested in volunteering with Wound Walk and/or Mary’s Kitchen, submit your contact info using the link below.
